DSAW February 2026 events brought families together across Wisconsin for connection, fun, and community. From ice fishing to yoga, DSAW chapters hosted many local gatherings across the state.
Central
Central Chapter Ice Fishing Day 🎣
On February 15, our Central Chapter families enjoyed a fantastic day out on the ice for our annual ice fishing event. The weather couldn’t have been better—bright sunshine and temperatures so warm we might even call it a “hot” day on the ice!
A huge thank you goes to the incredible volunteers from the UW–Stevens Point SHAPER Club, who spent the day helping our participants bait hooks, drop lines, and reel in fish. With their support and encouragement, every participant caught at least one fish—making it a successful and exciting day for all.
We wrapped up the fishing with a little friendly competition, handing out awards to our top three fish catchers of the day. Afterwards, everyone gathered at Jordan’s Pub & Grill to warm up and enjoy a well-deserved meal together, sharing stories and laughs from the day’s adventures.
Thank you to our volunteers, families, and anglers for making it such a memorable winter event. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🎣❄️

Chippewa Valley
The Eau Claire Children’s Museum never disappoints! Thank you to the DSAW-Chippewa Valley families who spent their Friday night exploring, playing, and making memories with us. It was such a joy to see everyone having so much fun together—we always love our time at the museum!

Fox Cities
February was a busy and meaningful month for our DSAW Fox Cities community!
We had a great time burning off some energy at Luv2Play Indoor Playground, where families climbed, played, and enjoyed spending time together. Later in the month, we celebrated at our Valentine’s Day Dance with lots of dancing, crafts, and festive fun.
February was also a month focused on giving back. Through our Warm Clothes & Hygiene Drive, our community came together to donate 350+ items to local shelters to help those in need. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make such a positive impact.
We also hosted a Panera Bread fundraiser, and we appreciate everyone who stopped by to support DSAW while enjoying a meal.
Thank you to our amazing families and supporters for making February such a fun and impactful month. 💙💛

Greater La Crosse Area
February took La Crosse DSAW into the wild outdoors for ice fishing. It was a cold sunny day, and participants spent the morning catching rainbow trout. After fishing, we enjoyed hot cocoa, hot dogs and mingling with other fishers!

Green Bay
DSAW Green Bay: A Busy and Impactful February
February was full of connection, activity, and community for families and self-advocates with DSAW Green Bay. From fitness and fun to advocacy and fundraising, our members had many opportunities to come together and stay engaged.
2/6/26 Our athletes continued building strength and confidence during Fun Fit Friday, held in partnership with GRIT920. These sessions encourage movement, teamwork, and healthy habits while creating a supportive environment where participants can challenge themselves and celebrate progress.
2/9/26 We hosted an open Advisory Board meeting, welcoming community members and families to learn more about DSAW initiatives, share ideas, and help shape the future of programming.
2/11/26 Families gathered for a fun outing at Let’s Run Around Indoor Playground, where kids had the chance to burn off energy and parents could connect with one another.
2/25-2/26 DSAW proudly participated in Give Big Green Bay for the first time. This community-wide day of giving allowed us to connect with other nonprofits, raise awareness about our mission, and receive generous support from donors who believe in creating opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome.
2/28/26 To wrap up the month, our self-advocates also enjoyed an exciting night cheering on the Green Bay Gamblers. The hockey game outing was a great opportunity to socialize, experience a local sporting event together, and celebrate community spirit.
February was a wonderful reminder of the power of community. Thank you to all the families, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make these programs possible. We look forward to even more connection, growth, and fun in the months ahead. 💙💛

February 2026 Highlights
February was a busy and joyful month with DSAW-SC filled with connection, fun, and meaningful support for families!
We kicked off the month with Sensory Zone Day on February 7, giving kids a welcoming space to explore, play, and connect. That same afternoon, participants had the opportunity to try something new during a pickleball lesson, which was a big hit.
On February 8, we celebrated together with a group birthday party featuring Disney princesses, creating magical moments for the kids and their families.
Mid-month brought several wonderful programs. On February 14, we hosted Sibshop, a monthly gathering for children who have a sibling with a disability, providing a supportive and fun space just for them. Families also enjoyed a playgroup for ages 0–6 at the local library, while older kids gathered for The CREW, which featured a festive Valentine’s Day theme.
Exploration continued on February 15 with an Animal Exploration program with Madison Parks, where kids had the chance to learn about and interact with animals.
The weekend of February 21 offered a chance for relaxation and connection during our Mom’s Mini Retreat, an overnight getaway at Holiday Inn & Suites Madison West – Verona.
We also hosted a playgroup for ages 7–12 at Legacy Academy, giving older kids a chance to socialize and play together. Community connections were strengthened when we welcomed more than 50 local businesses to our Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce Coffee Chat.
We wrapped up the month with plenty of action and laughter. Families enjoyed a high-energy outing to Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park on February 28, and on February 27 we went snow tubing—in unusually warm weather—but it was still an absolute blast!
February truly highlighted the power of community, connection, and inclusive fun. We’re grateful for all the families, partners, and volunteers who made these experiences possible.

DSAW Southeastern WI February 2026 Highlights
February was all about friendship, fun, and feeling good in Southeastern Wisconsin!
We kicked off the month on February 7 with families heading to Bikini Bottom for a performance of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical at the Racine Theatre Guild.
